HOW TO TAKE MEASUREMENTS FOR A SUIT

To begin, let's talk about why accurate measurements are important. First and foremost, you want your suit to be comfortable. A well tailored suit will not only look good, but it will make you feel good too. Having a tailored suit will give you the confidence you need for any situation. Having a suit that fits well will also ensure that it lasts longer. A poor fitting suit will weather differently in areas that may require a great deal of movement. This could lead to unsightly wrinkles and tearing. Now, let's get started taking measurements.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

To get accurate measurements, you'll need a soft tape measure. You will also need to wear tight fitting, but comfortable clothing. These things will allow you to get the most accurate measurements. You'll want to remember to stand in your normal posture. Don't stand too upright or too slouched over as this may alter the suits fit after tailoring, and you'll be far more comfortable.

HOW TO MEASURE

Before we dive in, it's important to remember that measurements should be taken by reading the number that overlaps the "0" on the tape measure. Be careful not to pull the tape measure too tightly as the measurements will be too small. Instead, place one finger between the tape and the person being measured. This will better mimic the fit of the clothing.

DON'T FORGET YOUR BODY SHAPE

Knowing your body shape is very important because when you know your body shape, that's when you're able to properly and accurately choose what clothes look good on you, while avoiding those which either don't flatter your looks or worse still, make you look either too fat, skinny or too big on top (or bottom).
